Jerome and Tracy explains that we live in a candidate-driven market. The war for talent is over and the candidates have won. Jerome lays out three components of recruiting that all need to be in place for success in hiring 1) Attracting the right candidates; 2) Engaging with your candidates and 3) Ensuring proper collaboration among the hiring team. He notes that attracting the right candidates is a marketing challenge and a marketing function. There needs to be much more focus on marketing than on reviewing resumes. Hire the best people and then match their talent to the needs of your business. A widespread problem is that there is the lack of collaboration among the teams that need to have a say in hiring. Companies must recognize that digital technology is now the fundamental mode of recruiting. Those in talent acquisition too often don’t have the tools and resources they need to be successful. That needs to change.
